The Ceramics Studio is an 8,000 square foot state-of-the-art, inviting, efficient place to learn all aspects of working with clay. The ceramics studio is fully equipped to meet the needs of every level of potter, from beginner to professional, child to adult.
Classes
The Mesa Arts Center's Ceramics Studio offers a broad range of classes for the casual to serious student, from functional pottery to ceramic sculpture. We encourage students to discover and develop their own ideas with the help of experienced staff. Classes combine demonstrations, examples of contemporary and historical ceramics, and lively discussions of art.

Mesa Arts Center Ceramics has hosted many excellent workshops over the years, including with David Shaner, Patti Warashina, Wayne Higby, Paul Soldner, Karen Karnes, and Don Reitz. Workshops are usually two days long where participants can get to know fascinating artists and learn special techniques through lecture, demonstration and/or hands-on experience. The Mesa Arts Center is fortunate to have a large and broad-based team of talented ceramics instructors. They work together to cover many subjects, including wheel-throwing, hand-building, high-fire stoneware, salt firing, low-fire maiolica and raku. Equipment
The 8,000 sq.ft. Ceramics Studio is home to a 100 cubic foot car kiln, eight electric kilns, a soda kiln, raku and saggar kilns and a proposed wood kiln. There are 30 wheels, three slab rollers, an extruder, two clay mixers, a pug mill and student lockers. There are plenty of carts and work areas for both students and staff.
